So...
The economy room wasn't available, and that adds about $50 to my total. Also, there is international health insurance also required, adding about $42. Then with a couple hundred dollars to work out dinners, laundry, and some incidentals, I'm on my way.

I'm also looking at the recommended packing list and I should bring my winter boots! I was imagining some quaint spring-like mountain village with me in short sleeves, but alas..it will barely be warm. That just shows how much I hang out in the mountains!

Thank you all for this amazing opportunity!
Thanks to the Danemans
Thanks so much to Marc and Linda Daneman (Benje's parents!) for buying my plane ticket for me! I'm now in the home stretch!
Thanks to my dad
I'm now almost halfway there after my dad's contribution of $1,000 through the mail. Thanks Dad!
Invited to Banff...
Dear friends & family,

I've been given a great opportunity togo spend three weeks
in the mountains of Alberta, Canada at theBanff Arts Centre
from May 16 -June 6, 2010 and attend their "Workshopfor
Jazz & Creative Music."

I'm writing to ask for your helpso that I can get there
(no matter how small). This is a chance for meto focus just
on music in a great environment. Right now, I'm leaving
behind standard repertoire and focusing on composing.
Most of you knowthat I'm generally strapped for time to
create and going to Banff wouldbe an amazing gift.

About the program:"Underthe leadership of trumpeter/composer Dave Douglas and his hand-picked
group of leading jazz faculty, this unique program leaves
the rigidacademic environment behind, encouraging
creativity and facilitatingleaps of artistic innovation. Participants benefit from daily masterclasses, small
ensemble rehearsals, and common sessions with some of
theworld’s most inspiring jazz musicians. Club and concert
performances,recording sessions, and opportunities to
workshop new compositions allowartists to further develop
original music in a collaborative andsupportive environment."

I humbly ask for your financialsupport. Thank you to all my
friends and family for the lengths they arewilling to go to
so Elise is safely taken care of back here in thestates!

In addition to financial donations, I would reallyappreciate a
donation of "air miles" to help buy my plane ticket instead
of cash. I willalso mail or email tracks that I record while at
Banff to everyone whohas supported me getting there.

About Banff...
"...and in our own weird, ecstatic, peculiar, and individual ways, Ithink that this is what we do: we combat human woe and disappointmentwith humor, with compassion, with anger, and delight. We suppose that there might be better or more interesting ways of living and we point these out to the world." - From the video...
